appears today in the press a statement by Mario Rainone on the round table held in Chieti on 18 February 2011 to reopen the matter in Abruzzo oil.

E' ridicolo pensare che io possa essere a Chieti con dieci giorni di pre-avviso. Allo stesso modo e' ridicolo cambiare le carte in tavola dopo essere stati scoperti a organizzare convegni poco trasparenti,
e dove a relazionare sono persone che hanno legami diretti o indiretti con l'industria del petrolio.
Non mi sono mai sottratta al dibattito con i petrolieri - ho dibattuto i piu' alti vertici ENI all'Universita' di Pescara durante l'estate del 2008. Erano venuti da Milan, Pisa and London, and no one, ENI, has been able to refute the enormous wealth of data from around the world that show the harmful effects of oil drilling for those who live nearby.
